C. LouAnn Chiasson grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She graduated from the University of King's College in 1987 and from Dalhousie Law School in 1991. She was admitted to the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, June 1992. In January of 2012, Ms. Chiasson received the designation of Queen's Counsel in recognition of her considerable legal and community accomplishments.
Her area of practice is Family Law. She has successfully appeared before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (Family Division, Trial Division and Appeal Division), as well as before administrative tribunals and review boards. She has served on various boards and committees including Dartmouth Day Care Centre, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the University of King's College Alumni Executive. She has served as Chair of the Canadian Bar Association, Nova Scotia, Family Law Subsection.
She currently serves on the Family Court Liaison Committee, The Supreme Court (Family Division) Liaison Committee, the Access to Justice Committee, the Unified Family Court Working Group, and the Nova Scotia Justice Pilot Project Advisory Committee.
LouAnn lives in Dartmouth with her husband and their 2 children.
