Matthew J.D. Moir, chair of the Nova Scotia Chapter CBA General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Section, is pleased to report that a checklist for lawyers issuing certificates of independent legal advice has been adopted by the Chapter. The checklist is intended to aid the profession in adhering to generally accepted practice standards in this potentially hazardous area of practice.
